WAMS 2017 Workshop on Computational Methods

QuantEcon will run two sessions at the Workshop of the Australasian Macroeconomics Society, to be held in August 2017 at Australian National University, Canberra. The sessions will provide an overview of modern open source tools and techniques for computational modeling, loosely based on the material in Lectures in Quantitative Economics.

Session 1: Tuesday 15 August, 2pm - 5pm

Session 2: Wednesday 16 August, 2pm - 4pm

Outline

Session 1 will cover:

  • Introduction to Python for scientific computing
  • Jupyter notebooks, scientific workflow
  • Python for data handling, analysis, and visualisation

Session 2 will cover:

  • An introduction to Julia
  • Applications

Please be sure to bring your laptop to the workshop.  If possible,

All languages and computing platforms we use are free and open source.  

Troubleshooting of installations and other software issues will be available in the first session.
